Masonboro Island is an 8 mile, primitive barrier island preserved in it's natural state. It is a both a vital habitat for wildlife as well as a unique and scnenic location to tour by kayak. Our half day paddle starts with a put in at the wildlife access point in Carolina Beach. Leaving the marshes, we paddle approximately a mile and half along the intercoastal to Masonboro Inlet. From here we cross Masonboro Inlet and arrive at the high dunes of Masonboro.Enjoy a walk or hunt for seashells along the wide beach that lines this section of Masonboro. Climb the dunes and you can enjoy panaromic views of the Intercoastal, Masonboro Inlet and the Atantic Ocean. Bird life is diverse and abundant at Masonboro, and may include ibis, white and blue heron, osprey, plovers, red tail hawk and bald eagle. Seat turtle and dolphin are also frequently spotted along this route. Our return paddle takes us back along the intercoastal to our take out at the wildlife access point in Carolina Beach.
