Fall Paddle Destinations

Summer has officially been over for a few weeks now. The crowds have largely dissapeared from our local waterways. The temperatures are starting to come down. While some paddlers are hanging up their boats for the year, others are taking advantage of Fall paddling opportunities. September, October, and November are three of my favorite months for paddling. With cooling temps, less crowds, and the changing foilage, this is an ideal time to be on the water. I plan my paddle destinations around the seasons. This time of year actually provides the best variety of paddling locales as well as moderate, kayak friendly weather. If you were thinking of planning that epic week long paddling excursion, the October through November time frame is your perfect window. Over the next several weeks I'll be highlighting my favorite Fall paddles along with providing some tips on planning a three or four day kayak expedition. Stay tumed.....
